OCD Therapy in Colorado

OCD Is Not What Most People Think

OCD is one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions — and one of the most treatable when approached with the right methods. It's not about being neat or particular. It's intrusive thoughts, compulsions that feel impossible to resist, and a cycle of distress that can take over your entire day.

Melissa Perry uses ERP — Exposure and Response Prevention — the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD, combined with ACT to help you change your relationship with intrusive thoughts rather than fighting them endlessly.

How ERP for OCD Works

  • Gradually and safely exposing you to feared thoughts or situations

  • Helping you resist compulsive responses over time

  • Breaking the cycle of obsession, compulsion, and temporary relief

  • Building tolerance for uncertainty — the core skill OCD tries to steal from you

ERP is not about forcing yourself to feel uncomfortable for its own sake. It is a structured, evidence-based process that is paced carefully to your tolerance and always within your control.

OCD Presentations Melissa Works With

  • Contamination OCD

  • Harm OCD

  • Relationship OCD (ROCD)

  • Scrupulosity

  • Pure O (primarily obsessional OCD)

  • Health anxiety with OCD features

  • Existential OCD

  • Postpartum OCD

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ERP uncomfortable?

Yes — and that's by design. ERP involves deliberately approaching things that trigger your OCD rather than avoiding them. This is uncomfortable in the short term. But it is this deliberate discomfort — done gradually and safely — that breaks the OCD cycle. Melissa paces ERP carefully and never pushes beyond your window of tolerance.

What if I've tried ERP before and it didn't work?

ERP done poorly — too fast, without proper preparation, or without adequate support — can feel ineffective or even harmful. If past ERP didn't work, it's worth exploring why before concluding that ERP isn't for you. Many people find that a more individualized, carefully paced approach makes all the difference.

Can ACT and ERP be used together?

Yes — and this combination is increasingly supported by research. ERP addresses the behavioral cycle of OCD. ACT addresses your relationship with the thoughts themselves. Together they work on both the compulsions and the suffering caused by intrusive thoughts.

Is OCD therapy available via telehealth?

Yes. ERP and ACT for OCD are effective via telehealth. Kansas and Missouri residents may access sessions remotely. Colorado residents may choose in-person or telehealth.
