Emotional exhaustion sleep doesn't fix

Frequently Asked Questions

Supportive therapy conversation representing compassion fatigue counseling for first responders at Soul Yoga Counseling Colorado

Is this confidential? Will my employer find out?

Your sessions are confidential under the same legal and ethical standards that apply to all licensed therapy. Melissa does not share your information with employers, departments, or agencies without your explicit written consent, except in very narrow circumstances required by law.

I'm not sure I have compassion fatigue. How would I know?

Common signs include emotional exhaustion that doesn't resolve with rest, increased cynicism or detachment at work, difficulty feeling empathy for people you used to care deeply about, intrusive imagery from work, sleep disruption, hypervigilance off-duty, and a sense of meaninglessness about work you once found fulfilling. If any of these feel familiar, a free consultation is a low-pressure way to explore it.

Do you offer continuing education for agencies or healthcare organizations?

Yes. Melissa is an experienced public speaker and continuing education facilitator on vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and moral injury — particularly for SANE nursing programs and first responder agencies. Contact her directly to discuss organizational training.

Is telehealth available for first responders with unpredictable schedules?

Yes. Telehealth is available for Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri residents — and Melissa works to accommodate the scheduling realities of shift work and irregular hours. Reach out to discuss what works for your schedule.
